Grade 9 girls immunization (change of date)
Wednesday May 30, 2012 . . . Grade 9 girls will be immunized first block in the morning. Parents please be sure at send your son / daughter to school on this date.
Any questions regarding these immunizations should be forwarded to the Rutherford Health Centre at 780-342-6800.
Possible health care benefits:
Alberta Works has a benefits card that will cover children up until the age of 18. Qualifications for the benefits card is based on income levels. Please see qualifying income levels below. The benefits card coverage for dental, one pair of eyeglasses per year, some prescription coverage and ambulance ride coverage. Forms can be picked from the school office.

Single Parent - one child= max. income of 24,397
Single Parent - two children=max. income of 29,073
Single Parent - three children=max income of 34,056
Single Parent - four children=max. income of 39,336
Couple - one child=max. income of 29,285

Travel Club
Mr. Bateman and Mrs. Cobick will be hosting a trip to Italy with the 2011 / 2012 Travel Club. Some of the sights of Italy will include a tour of Rome, Venice as well as other beautiful cities. If you are interested in learning more about this exciting trip, please contact Mr. Bateman or Mrs. Cobick.

Work Experience
The dates for Work Experience 2011 / 2012 are as follows:
Round 1 October 5 – October 26, 2011
Round 2 November 23 – December 13, 2011
Round 3 February 23 – March 16, 2012
Round 4 April 26 – May 15, 2012Remember, family assistance with helping students find a job they would like to try for these three weeks can make Work Experience much more successful. Contact Angela Fowlow for more information.
A Work X Rally is held after each Round to celebrate students' work accomplishments. Students are recognized for the most days and hours worked as well as positive attitudes and good work ethics.
Cloud Computing has arrived at L.Y. Cairns!
Cloud computing is where it’s at. (Cloud = applications are on the internet, and not on your computer.) All students at our school now have access to Share (Google) Apps through the my.epsb.ca student portal. Read more about the student portal . . .
SchoolZone
SchoolZone is an on-line information system developed by Edmonton Public Schools to enhance the home-school connection. It is available for the use of students, their parents or legal guardians and teachers. Parents or legal guardians must register their family's desire to participate in SchoolZone with each of their children's schools.
